Tsvetlin Yovchev

Tsvetlin Yovchev graduated from Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy – Varna. He possesses a Master Degree in Economics from St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.

He obtained a Doctor Degree in "Scientific Information Theory" after a defense of a dissertation.

Since 1993 Tsvetlin Yovchev has worked in the National Security Service where he was consequently appointed as head of section, head of branch and deputy director.

With the establishment of SANS he was assigned the position of General director to Counterintelligence General Directorate. In October 2008 he left the Agency.

He possesses a good command of English and Russian. He is married and has one child.

On the 10th of August 2009, by virtue of Decree № 287 of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, with a proposal from the Council of Ministers, Tsvetlin Yovchev was appointed Chairperson of the State Agency for National Security.
