Session of the Advisory Group on counterterrorism

A session of the Advisory Group on counterterrorism of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers, founded under the Prime Minister, Mr. Boyko Borisov`s ordinance of March 2016, was held today, 15 July, at the Ministry of Interior. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the State Intelligence Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Agency for National Security, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of transport, information technology and communications, as well as the Secretary of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers.

During the sessions the situation in Europe and the Balkan region was discussed, including in the context of the terrorist attack perpetrated in Nice, France.

The participants to the Advisory Group were united in the position that up to present there is no information available, indicating specific threat of terrorist attack on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. Nevertheless, due to the complicated situation in Europe and in the Balkan countries, the security measures undertaken so far on the territory of the country will be maintained.

The security services will continue actively monitoring and analyzing the state of the security environment.
